KDP payments, explained

KDP sales but no payment: the checks to run, in order.

Sales showing in the dashboard and an empty bank account is the most common payment complaint in the KDP community. Most cases are timing; the rest are setup.

The three timing causes

A sale is not a payment. It first accrues for 60 days, then waits for the marketplace threshold, then pays at the end of the month. Check these before anything else.

  • Is the sale month at least 60 days back?
  • Is the accrued total above the marketplace threshold?
  • Is today before or after the 29th?

The four setup causes

When timing is fine, the hold is usually one of four account-side items.

  • Bank or payment method not verified
  • Tax interview incomplete — KDP holds payment until it is done
  • Payout method changed and still in verification
  • Account under review after a policy check

The report cross-check

Compare the Sales Dashboard, which shows orders, with the Payments report, which shows what accrued. Print orders appear when dispatched, not when placed, so pending print orders widen the gap between the two views.
