The two numbers behind every KDP sale

Amazon offers two royalty options on ebooks: 35% for any price from $0.99, or 70% when the list price sits between $2.99 and $9.99. The 70% option deducts a delivery fee based on file size; the 35% option does not.

The calculator above applies both rules so you can see what a sale pays before you commit to a price.

How to use the result

Use the per-sale number to sanity-check your pricing: if the release pass costs $39, the calculator shows how many copies reach that. Then lock the price into your metadata and store copy so the published book matches the plan.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why does the 70% option sometimes fall back to 35%?

Amazon.com only applies 70% inside the $2.99–$9.99 price band. Outside that band the 35% option applies, which is what the calculator displays.

Does the delivery fee apply to print books?

No. The delivery fee applies to the 70% ebook royalty and is based on file size. Print royalties follow the printing cost and fixed costs of the trim size.

Are taxes included?

No. The estimate is pre-tax and pre-VAT, for Amazon.com, without currency conversion. Check KDP's current pricing page for your marketplace.
