What KENP and KENPC mean

KENP is the normalized page count Kindle Unlimited readers consume; KENPC is the page count Amazon assigns to your book. Earnings are pages read divided by KENPC, multiplied by the monthly rate per page that Amazon announces after the fact.

The rate moves every month, which is why the field is editable and why this is a planning tool, not a payout promise.

Why authors track this alongside sales

Kindle Unlimited readers often outnumber buyers for genre fiction. Checking KENP against your royalty calculator result shows which side of the store is actually paying for the book.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find my KENP pages read?

In your KDP reports, under the Kindle Unlimited pages read report. Your book's KENPC appears on the book's KDP details page.

Is the rate per page fixed?

No. Amazon sets it monthly and it has drifted between roughly $0.004 and $0.005 in recent years. The estimator defaults to a mid value and lets you override it.

Do KENP earnings replace sales royalties?

They are separate. A KU borrow pays by pages read; a sale pays the 35% or 70% royalty. Authors enrolled in KDP Select earn from both.
