For Kindle Unlimited authors, page reads can quietly become the biggest earnings line. KENP (Kindle Edition Normalized Pages) measures how many normalized pages readers consumed — but the rate per page changes monthly and the calculation only applies to eligible books.

The math that actually applies
Each month Amazon publishes a fund and a per-page rate derived from total page reads. If $10 million fund ÷ 2 billion pages = $0.005 per page, a 60,000-page-read month earns ~$300. Your book's raw word count is normalized into KENP using a standard conversion before it counts.
The two common misunderstandings in community threads: (1) page reads only count when the reader reads in the Kindle app/device (not a downloaded PDF), and (2) only books enrolled in KDP Select earn page reads.
