During the upload flow, KDP asks whether your content is AI-generated, and if so, whether text, images, or translations are AI-generated or AI-assisted. Your answers appear on the book's detail page.

Amazon defines AI-generated as content created entirely by AI tools, and AI-assisted as content where you created or substantially edited the material and used AI for brainstorming, polishing, error-checking, or similar help.

The practical rule

If a model wrote the chapter and you lightly edited it, Amazon expects the AI-generated disclosure. If you wrote the chapter and used a tool to catch errors, that is AI-assisted.

Disclosure is about honesty, not punishment. Undisclosed AI content is what gets books flagged, and Amazon's own guidance asks publishers to take responsibility for accuracy and originality.
