The standard trims
Most picture books ship at 8.5x8.5 in square or 8.5x11 in landscape or portrait. KDP's accepted trim list includes these and a few others, but buyers and printers both expect the standards.

A 100-page 8.5 x 8.5 coloring book, sized end to end
Coloring books are the format where the geometry matters most, because the interior is artwork rather than text. At 8.5 x 8.5 in with 100 pages on white paper the spine is 0.225 in, so the full-wrap cover has to be 17.475 x 8.75 in — 5243 x 2625 px at 300 DPI — while the interior pages stay at trim size with no bleed at all.
That asymmetry is the usual mistake. A coloring interior must not carry bleed, because art that runs to the paper edge gets trimmed unpredictably and cannot be colored at the border, while the cover must carry 0.125 in on the top, bottom, and outside edges. The spine is also too thin to print on in a short book, so a 24-page title ships with a blank spine whether or not you designed one.
- A 24-page square book has a 0.054 in spine and no room for spine text
- Cream paper adds 0.025 in of spine at 100 pages, which moves the wrap width with it
- Export the wrap at the calculated pixel size instead of stretching a front cover into it

Coloring book specs
Coloring books print on black-and-white interior paper, so pages must be pure grayscale or line art. Interiors do not use CMYK; covers do. Keep line weight consistent and margins generous on the bound edge.

Image quality rules
